Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 19% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.0/100, a mean average of 73.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.1.

This is the BLUES, say no more sweet little red rooster
One of the best blues albums of all time - it's fantastic to hear old pro bluesman Wolf fronting the top new bluesmen of the era including Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts joined throughout by longtime Wolf sideman Hubert Sumlin. The group whips through standards from Howlin Wolf's past mostly composed by the master's own hand or that of Chess Records' staple Willie Dixon. Former Beatle Ringo Starr even finds time to play on "I Ain't Superstitious, credited as "Richie" here. Also on 4 numbers is "sixth Stone" Ian Stewart.
O mestre mostra como se faz aos britânicos (incluindo Clapton)!
Very good album. The Wolf nails it as usual over a brit-blues band groove through the record. Clapton is in top form and you can feel his enthusiasm about working with two of his heroes (the other is guitarist Hubert Sumlin wich he specifically requested to be at the recording sessions as a necessary condition for him to play on the album).
The better track IMO is Sitting on top of the world with an awesome performance.
Probably the better album of the "black blues historic figure + white new guys band" formula that was en vogue at the late 60s.
This would be a good starting place for a rock guy to start getting into black blues territory.
Surprised at how low a rating this album has received. Great set list, great musicians, one of the best blues vocalists ever = fabulous. Starts off with the jump blues Rockin' Daddy, with Clapton doing his best Hubert Sumlin impression and goes on for almost 30 minutes. Love the instruction given for The Re Rooster. Ends with the mammoth Wang Dang Doodle. Only regret over album is that they don't do Evil.
