Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 76.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.1.

Actually my favourite album from Traffic, even better than John Barleycorn; in any case, great band and great album who can be enjoyed from every rock fans.
Hard rock done by the book. Worth a mention, but deservedly obscure.
I listened to the UK and American release as well as the mono and stereo versions of each song and have come to the conclusion that the American tracklist is better and the stereo version is mostly superior. Either way, the album is pretty good when it wants to be but it doesn't seem like it's all that interested in being the best it can be throughout. Every song has interesting elements, some of the songs are almost great but few (read: one or two) tie it all together. The instrumentation is impressive, the vocals are passable but the psychedelic fades and background chatter feel a little contrived to me.
A great psychedelic album. It has all the elements to make it a really interesting listen and it is! Organ, Mellotron (incorrectly spelt in the Sleeve notes) harpsichord, harmonica, flute, saxaphone, searing guitars, tambura and sitar. Comparing 'Dealer' with 'Utterly Simple' the two tracks like different bands. This album is an audio trip! The vinyl re-issue also includes Paper Sun!
Favoritas: No Face No Name No Number, Dear Mr. Fantasy, House For Everyone
As usual with Traffic, there always seems to be a musical and lyrical tug of war going on between Dave Mason(who had actually left the band by the time of release) and Steve Winwood. Mason's songs are always veering towards the whimsical(or completely bonkers, as in the case of, house for everyone) while the rest of Traffic, especially Winwood, are more bluesy and shall I say, serious. It almost feels like two bands making separate albums. Anyway, there's still some great tracks; heaven is in your mind, dealer, and, no face,no name,no number, best though is the excellent, dear Mr. Fantasy. Classic stuff.
Best Track: Dear Mr. Fantasy
Not the best as a whole but "Dear Mr. Fantasy" is a classic (really, it's amazing) and "House for Everyone" is hippie music at it's best
Fantastic album, bought it when it came out in 7th grade...perfect age to absorb music during this fertile period in american pop music. Fav: "Heaven is in your mind"
The distinctive psychedelic experiment Mr Fantasy merges folk, jazz, soul and gospel to create a kind of acid-rock and blues-rock fusion halfway between Hendrix and Cream. The mood that emerges from this stylistic hybrid is one that is sweet and intense - highly lyrical, melancholy and solemn. The highlights are the inventive 'Heaven Is In Your Mind' and the slow ballad, 'No Face No Name No Number' with mellotron and flute.
