Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 70.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

Howie Day, a fellow Maine-er, had his first and only major label debut here. He made it somewhat big and can be considered a bit of a one hit wonder with Collide
It's too bad he couldn't stay on track because this album hints at some overall talent. Day has a knack for melody even if the whole affair seems a bit simple.
It also lacks varying tempo's--it is one long mid-tempo drudge caked in atmosphere and melody.
It is also pretty safe and predictable in its structure sticking firmly to verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus done between 3:30 and 5 minutes.
It all hampers the creativity and spontaneity of his potential which can be seen in the one man show of layered melody in his madrigals ep.
Collide, She Says, and You & And a Promise are standout highlights.
Nothing here is bad. But it can pass you by unremarkably at times.
Would have loved to see what else this guy could do.
