Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The definition of underrated especially when it comes to vocals.

This album isn't among the greats, and it doesn't bring anything new to the table. Nonetheless, it's a good album full of well-written songs (love Fallen Souls in particular). It's an album I come back to from time to time and always enjoy listening through.

This is a relatively unknown band that should have hit big on the alternative market but didn't. This album was their first and seriously draws comparisons to Jeff Buckley, King Crimson and Mercury Rev. This is a solid album brilliantly produced by Steve Lillywhite of U2 fame.
