Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 26% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.7/100, a mean average of 74.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 23.6.

The pinnacle of deep house, "Midtown 120 Blues" emphasises the hugely significant and forgotten cultural importance of house in its introductory track along with the hijacking of this queer culture created by people of colour (see: madonna's vogue) in "Ball'r" whilst deftly providing the tunes throughout. These aren't just bangers though, the ten tracks evoke a huge range of deeply felt emotions, and with that I have absolutely no issue in calling this a landmark record.
"The House Nation likes to pretend clubs are an oasis from suffering, but suffering is in here with us. The contexts from which the Deep House sound emerged are forgotten: sexual and gender crises, transgendered sex work, black market hormones, drug and alcohol addiction, loneliness, racism, HIV, ACT-UP, Thompkins Sq. Park, police brutality, queer-bashing, underpayment, unemployment and censorship - all at 120 beats per minute. These are the Midtown 120 Blues."
Good album, it works great as a background techno album. Nice flow. The intro and "Midtown 120 Blues" combo work perfectly together.
