Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.3/100, a mean average of 77.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.5.

The only album where he really does something that is different, before he started to catch 'em all genres. Even though I think chillwave is just a term coined by those who aren't aware of dream pop's and neo-psychedelia's existence, it's an interesting mix nonetheless. A bit trippier and a lot more sample-heavy than Merriweather Post Pavilion, which got picked up by vaporwave without a doubt. The Beach Boyish ahhhhs and overall heavy psychedelic rock vibe reminds me of Tame Impala, but neither could be inspired by each other, which means they were probably inspired by the same source. While Tame Impala doubled up on psychedelic rock, Toro added a more '90s electronica vibe to it. Much more interesting if you ask me, and much more influentual.
Chillwave has arrived and yes, it's feeling incredibly woozy. Despite the sun drenched melodies floating around, things keep moving in and out of register...what just happened there? Wow.
Best Tracks: Blessa, Talamak
Hip, breezy, urbane, snobbish, fun music for the urban bubble and nearby gay beach resorts. Full of fashion, high on narcissism and distracted by instant self-portraiture. Stoic, catchy, smart, disinterested and dreamy, with a casual interest in recherche political statements if they look good.
It has this really sexy section in the middle.
perfect....listen to it in june, you'll get it
