Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.9/100, a mean average of 66.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.2.

One for the hardcore fans. Really love the striking rendition of "Deeper Understanding" (on the contrary applerill, the use of autotune heightens unease, drags the song into the 21st century and fits very well with the "isolation from society, let's turn to technology" theme). I actually think "The Red Shoes" is even better here, and I like that "This Woman's Work" is given space to breathe. The remainder of the tracks work better in their original contexts, however I will continue to defend this album's existence, from one perfectionist to another. If she's having fun, then so am I, irregardless of how self-indulgent "Director's Cut" may seem - sometimes indulging is a good thing !
I much prefer the originals. Now I've listened to this a few more times, my verdict is:- Pointless and terrible.
I actually really like this. I had avoided it for years because I expected it to be pointless and terrible. It might well still be pointless but I found it quite enjoyable. Not bad at all.
If this was a stand-alone album where all the tracks were original, this album would rank as one of her very best albums, but it's a reworked album (revisiting tracks from "The Sensual World" & "The Red Shoes") that's quality manages to justify its existence.
Tracks on this album generally appear to gain more warmth (or frost, in the case of remarkable ballad "This Woman's Work") and lose more dynamism. It's an album of highs and lows, of some success. The highlight for me (which I gather is an unpopular opinion) is the revisited version of "Deeper Understanding" which uses autotune in a *great* way in order to enhance the feeling of detachment from the world and attachment to technology - brilliant track.
I wouldn't say it was an unmissable album, but it's certainly worth spending a bit of time on it for a richer, more mature sound from Kate Bush.
I prefer the originals for most of the tracks.
A vastly underrated album that manages to mostly improve on the originals. Just because it's not a "new" album doesn't mean that it should be ignored.
You definitely have to skip around, but some of these "redo" tracks are real gems and often better than the dated originals. Check out "Song of Solomon", "Deeper Understanding", "Moments of Pleasure", and "Never be Mine".

Yes, Jhereko, I agree: As much as I love Kate Bush, it's a true insult that this crappy remix album is above so many other classics. Yes, I know this was technically the way "she" wanted the songs, but "Deeper Understanding" with autotune? REALLY???
People do realise this isn't a whole new album don't they? Some people on this site really confuse me sometimes...it's sad to think that this is currently higher than: Geogaddi, Echoes, Rid Of Me, Richard D. James Album, Dig Your Own Hole, Alien Lanes, Bitte Orca; etc, etc, etc
