Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.1/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

While "Wild Planet" may not be as groundbreaking or influential as their debut album, it is a strong follow-up that solidifies The B-52's as a force to be reckoned with. With its infectious hooks, danceable rhythms, and eccentric vocals, this album is an excellent representation of the band's unique sound and quirky style.
In summary, "Wild Planet" is a fantastic sophomore effort from The B-52's. Filled with infectious energy, irresistible hooks, and their signature quirkiness, this album is a must-listen for fans of new wave, rock, and anyone looking for a fun and enjoyable musical experience.
Very hard task to follow up there brilliant debut album. And it shows. This pales in comparison and rarely sees the light of day. A disappointment for me
Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson are total f'ing icons. Perfectly of their time, the B-52s put together a lot of ideas that were current but also added their own sensibility--one of the smartest bands around, party music for smart party people. Might be a case of you-had-to-be-there, but use your imagination if you have to.
A really fun pop album. Nice surf guitars and cool vocals. I think it deserves some more love.
Dirty Back Road, Private Idaho, (the madness of) Quiche Lorraine and Devil In My Car are the best of a pretty consistent bunch of tracks. Enjoyable album that I think I'm more inclined to pick up and listen to than their self-titled first. Nothing outstanding but good B-52s none the less.
Not the greatest album ever, but wow...is this ever overlooked here!
