sageamagoo 03/21/2013 11:05I heard Chop Suey first, and actually really liked it... But listening to the album, I couldn't find much else I could get into. (Besides Aerials, that song and the hidden track are awesome...)
drivebytornado 02/25/2013 22:51The So-Cal Armenians released their 2nd album in 2001. This turned out to be a smash, selling 12 albums worldwide. I find myself digging this one more with each listen.

These denizens of Toxicity are very loud. They sing about airlines, Hollywood, proto occupy wall st slogans and divination. Not all in that order but things are chopped up and put around in a way. Pretty big in their time playing too. Let's see... Prison Song and Chop Suey! are the biguns on this disc. Jumping around like jack in the box rabbits playing tin cans. Loud, loud and loud! Alternate's between the caramel smooth singer and Jello Biafra mac 2. I like the latter. Sounds like a racket, pretty much is. However it is nice and ordered. These are catchy arrangements. Though the bass, guitar and drums all bounce on the trampoline, it's all done to perfection, I don't think they fell off once... hit their heads on the ceiling. Lyrics introspective. Hard to write. Their distracting. Good stuff. I'm done.
Every once in a while someone figures out how to make hard rock completely new. This is one of those moments. And in terms of those moments of radical revision this might be the most noteworthy bridge between RATM's debut and the recent breakthrough of F*cked Up.
