Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 22% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.0/100, a mean average of 74.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

Just so god-damned gorgeous, pretty much from start to finish, with nary the smallest letup in trying to achieve eye-watering beauty. Jim Cuddy... what a lovely, lovely man.
A really fine under-the-radar alt-country record from the nineties, and one of my favorites from that genre. These are songs of love and loss, often quietly understated, with great melodies and subtle instrumentation. The opening track, "5 Days in May," does have one of the sloppiest guitar solos I've ever heard, but it also has some of the finest romantic country lyrics you'll ever hear: "Looking back it's hard to tell / Why they stood while others fell / Spend your life working it out / All I know is one cloudy day / They both just ran away / Rain on the windshield heading South / Oh, she loved the lines around his mouth." Damn, y'all. I'm tearing up.
Blue Rodeo at their peak: this is truly a great album. Bad Timing, Head Over Heels, Photograph, Till I Can Gain Control, Hasn't Hit Me Yet, Five Days in May... all standout examples of songwriting. Cuddy and Keelor duel magnificently from one track to the next. One of the best Canadian albums ever without doubt.
Best album played live.
Best album for relaxing up at the lake... No question. Put it on an old ghetto blaster, haul it down to the dock, and watch the bugs fly over the water and some canoeist paddle by. So much emotion, but so attached to their roots. Brilliant. Blue Rodeo`s best - and that`s saying alot. They have 5 or 6 other quality albums.
