Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.9/100, a mean average of 74.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 21.3.

For something that it was controversial because of tim and Sarah's "relationship" and the fact that this was made by a foursome instead of the classic lineup pretty much gives ya an idea about how good this album is Definitely it should be in the "1001 albums you must hear before you die"
You know that feeling you get after listening to a really good album for the first time, where you know you have to go listen to it again right away? Yeah, I don't think I've ever felt that way with a double album before. A masterpiece.
This is the album where it all came together. A joyous, uplifting, maelstrom of soaring melodies (Manhoo), grandiose power-chords (Dirty Boy), riotous riffs (FieryGunHand) and another addition to the home of fadeless splendour (Foundling). And a double album to boot. It will remain a lifelong mystery to me why the Cardiacs are not hailed as one of our England's greatest bands.
Enormous, noisy, maddening, and altogether absolutely beautiful. "Pronk" is a terrible, ugly word for what it is (almost "IDM" terrible), but The Cardiacs somehow managed to merge the elements of progressive rock with the spirit of punk without looking like complete idiots. Sing to God is their definite tour de force. Definitely an acquired taste, but a taste worth acquiring.
