One of the crowning achievements of not only Britpop, not only the 90's but music in general.

This Is The Band and Album of my time a top album overplayed back in 95/96' They broought something back that was missing in the Nineties good old fashioned Rock n Roll you can't beat it Top tracks Some Might Say Wonderwall Champagne Supernova Don't Look Back In Anger

Nearly perfect, needs songs such as Acquiesce and Whatever

OK, looking back in retrospect of this album some of these songs are a bit weak, with the exception of Don't Look Back in Anger, Cast No Shadow and Champagne Supernova, all of the songs seem to kind of drone on boringly and are sometimes annoying when I look at them with a more serious look. But, the previously mentioned tracks and for the fact that I still have a soft spot for Oasis this album JUST manages to get in my best ever list.

Definitely Maybe is still superior, though.

I think DM is so much better. This album has some great tracks, but also some weak Beatles rip off's.

Overrated in Britain but underrated in the rest of the world. Some great pub rock anthems, i prefer it to Definitely Maybe.

I was 21 and had just moved back to my parent's house in Manchester from Leeds when this was released. The version of Don't Look Back In Anger live at Glastonbury I'd taped off the radio with Liam singing and the the drums and guitars sounding huge was immense and my anticipation was high as a kite. My parents were on holiday in the week of release and I set up camp in the front room listening to this and playing video games. I was completely consumed, it lived up to the hype and hysteria, Oasis were the best band in the world. After a couple of months of heavy rotation I had played this album to death and was getting less and less enjoyment from it. I've not listened to it in over a decade now because I don't have a turntable anymore and have never felt the urge to get it on cd whilst Definitely Maybe still gets regular plays on my Ipod. In the end I see What's the Story as a good album that could have been so much better.

I've this ablum ranked 14th in new greatest ablum chart I'm doing. I did not think I would have it so high and had to force it down a bit. As I find Liam Gallagher a real pain in the a**!!! This comes thu in his voice at times too. Hate their bravado crap as well about their self claimed proclamation being the best band of all time or at least since the Beatles. Personality plays a part in one's likeness of an artist. But it terms of pure song quality its magnificent. There are no weak songs and many great songs.
