Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Well, its very much a Timbaland influenced R&B album. The singles are good (well, only "Yamaha" and "Love King"). The rest is just normal, modern R&B: lots of sexual boasts, lots of talk about the "bitches" and more sexual boasts. Surprisingly, it works pretty well, a lot more then it does for most artists these days. Reminded me a lot of Justin TImberlakes great Futuresex/lovesounds.

With all due respect to kanye & big boi, the-dream melds the influences of michael jackson and prince the best. This is what 2 live crew SHOULD'VE sounded like. The content is very sexual like 2 live crew, but delivered smooth and with some very good backing samples and keys.
