Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.9/100, a mean average of 69.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

Their second album. Even though it is flanked by superior albums immediately before and after, this is still a great effort. It's just the higher number of fillers on this that stop it being level par.
With their debut album, Kasabian rewrote the indie rock rulebook, but had the songwriting chops to carry this off. On their second album, they continue where they left off - synthesizer hooks aplenty, driving, krautrock rhythms, whining vocals - but with a touch less swagger, maybe. With hindsight, this album acts as the mid-point between the art indie of Kasabian and the more full-on prog of West Ryder.... Definitely worth a listen, this one.
This is quite good! My first experience with this band. Really digging it.
Funny how tastes differ here. I'm more for the second half than the first half although I see comments on both sides below. No-one appears to love the entire album - I've just given it a re-listen and like the first half with Shoot The Runner and Sun Rise Light Flight doing it most for me, but I just feel the last 5 tracks are what makes the album.
Ach well, each to their own then
Love many of the songs.
Disappointing album, my least favorite from them. Shoot the Runner is great, a few good songs like Empire, Seek & Destroy and Stuntman, and the rest is meh. Doesn't sound bad, it's just uninspired, forgettable songs.
Luckily they made up for it with their later albums
well, the first half is completely charged of great songs, but it have some bad songs, specially Seek and Destroy, too bad song for my ears, but this album takes a different concentration compared with West Ryder, but still very good alblum
Sorry but I don't agree.. This is a solid album, nothing special, but the second half is just good as the first half for me
The stately design does wonders for the album. Really, selling yourself as royalty will get you some where.
I was surprised to hear how good this album is. I wasn't too keen on their first, and when I bought this one cause is was only $2 I was really surprised how much better it was than their first. Solid solid album.
