IrishMusichead 1 day agoIt tells an intelligent story, it has some captivating lyrics and the classic Pink Floyd sound to it with atmospheric instrumentation and some great guitar solos by Gilmour. Probably the greatest rock opera to ever hold its ground.
a Roger Waters Album unlike the other Pink Floyd albums but a good piece of work not so keen on side 4 other than 'Run Like Hell' other faves 'Hey You,Comfortably Numb.
This was the album that got me into Pink Floyd and music in general. Not only has this got the best concept of any concept album, it never bores. The songs are kept relatively short in comparison to other Floyd albums, but that is no problem when all of them are brilliant. It also has Roger Waters' best work as a songwriter and David Gilmour's as a guitarist. It's intense, brooding, dark and magnificent. It also helps if you watch the film/see it live too, it really emphasises the experience. Because it's more than an album, it's an experience.
meccalecca 04/24/2013 15:17Extreme ambition leads down 2 roads. One is immense failure. The other is extraordinary new heights. I personally believe this album to be a huge success in its ambitions. It's nowhere near as consistent or controlled as other Pink Floyd albums, and there are the occasional misses. But this album manages to conjure up a wider range of emotions than any other Pink Floyd release.
ModVery good concept throughout, accompanied by good music. Some songs seem like filler fodder.
MrBrownProbably one of the most immersive albums I've ever heard.
Silly, contrived, some strong music throughout.
This is sheer power of rock opera right here! This is one of my most favorite albums!
Often spoken in the same regard as Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here, i don't think it's as good as those records but it is still brilliant.
