I have listened to many of Ornette's albums over the years. He is a genius plain and simple. Although not "conventional" in his playing, I think he expresses emotion better than most other musicians. He purposely eschews convention when it conflicts with his being able to express his raw emotions. Although not as well known as his other works (particularly Shape of Jazz to Come) this album perhaps best shows the emotionalism of his works. My favorite track to show this is "Sleep Talking." The Pulitzer people were wise to pick it for their award.
