sethmadsen 03/21/2013 00:57Great Eno influence on a lot of this... ambient sounding stuff and all, and then Pride as their hit and timeless classic. Promenade is definitely a top 10 U2 song for me.
The Unforgettable Fire is one of my least favorite songs of theirs ever. I don't like the 80s flare to it. The song structure and all is good, but it makes it not timeless.

gtrodaThis album is the bridge between their early work and the massive success of the Joshua Tree period. You can hear the changes in their sound beginning as they open up the sounds and become more spacy in their arrangements. Not all of the expirements work but this is the first album where you see that U2 isn't going to be content churning out the same type of music over and over.

This is U2's best album
"Elvis Presley and America" sucks all the life out of the room, like a fart at a funeral—a long, low fart. Otherwise, a good album, notable for "Bad" and "Pride."
