Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 73.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.9.

A lot of filler crap mixed around a bunch of good songs that go around many different genres. This album feelslike a 90s garage band from Cali and it draws influences from punk, reggae, hip hop, blues.... It's not the best album ever but I find it to be full of fun.
I believe the band did their best work here. It’s a long album but this is now a classic in my book. Too many good tracks to name including some well chosen covers. This is a great party album.
40oz to freedom has some brilliant tracks mixed into it but is ultimately held back by the unintelligent ones in between.
Ok, i hate hearing the argument against artists or their albums that basically say "it all sounds the same" because DUH, if it's the same artist (recording material around the same time in their career) then OF COURSE it's going to sound similar... But DAMN man, it's the white man's reggae record over-and-over... Ok, i'll stop for a second. What i tell everyone who says "their music all sounds the same" is boil it down to the question, "ok, if all their music sounds the same, then what is it about that ONE sound that you don't like?" For this sublime album, what drives me bananas is the lazy take on reggae and this message of just chillin' and smokin' is prime material across 22 tracks. The funny thing is -- overall, i like this album. But it's this stoned nonchalance that keeps me from liking it even more. There's so much more that could've been done with a lot of these tracks. Waste opportunity. 40 oz to Stupor is more like it.
It borders somewhere between musical genius amazing and just a random bunch of mediocre songs. The many times I have listened to it I just have this confused feeling the whole time (maybe their paranoia from the weed coming through... ahhaa).
Not quite on par with their self-titled, but still a strong album.
My favorite Sublime album. Self-titled is great, but I can't understand why everyone thinks it's so much better than 40 Oz.
absolute classic.
A ska punk masterpiece, the performance feels incredibly honest. The originals are excellent and the covers are well done.
Good album, great memories.
