Pretty good. Every song's sort of the same, though, isn't it?

This album. How can you complain about this album? Some dude making dead pan allusions to something or another about bras and bars. Scathing attacks beneath misfit smiles. I Spy has exactly what you need. Bar Italia is the teetotal ramble, the crumbling of the social order. This album wears the heart on the sleeve but spits on the face. A blockbuster that brought us Common People and Disco 2000. That song. THAT song! The one about the missed chance. The guitars on that one strike me. Feels intense. Feels desperate. This album is desperate.

I've got to agree with those that say it's over-hyped. I may change my opinion if I get a chance to listen to it without the expectations. It just seems like such an average record.

Javis is God (at least they have the same initials). Wish i was older when this came out, listening to it makes me feel like i missed out on when life was a little more interesting.

It's a good album, I just don't get the hype of it, in particular I don't get the hype of the song "Common People". It's good though.

Overall good album, doesn't live up to the hype.

12 gorgeous pop songs. Jarvis' arch lyrics. What more do you want? Great band, great album - I Spy the stand out.

I can understand why some would put Pulp ahead of Blur and certainly Oasis. They seem to have an edgier tone to their lyrics. Great pop-rock sound as well. But, I could also understand how some would find Jarvis Cocker tiresome.

During the 70s we had Bowie, the 80s Morrissey, and in the 90s it was Jarvis who was typecast as the corruptor of our nations youth - with Different Class being the Pulp manifesto writ large. One of the very few records from Britpop to be of any last consequence.

F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E. is really really underrated, i'm not saying that is the best track here, but it's an incredible song. Lyrics, tension, catchy chorus, dark, moody... Incredible record, Something Changed and Common People are two of britpop best songs.
