The Lion's Roar comments
Comments for the album The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit:
I like this a lot. I can see that it wouldn't be everyone's favorite, but its mix of joy and sadness gets me each time.
An outstanding album. A little top heavy as the first 4 songs a very strong and there's nothing until the last track that's quite on that level. That being said, best Americana album of the year by far.
This is coffee shop background music...but I love it, not a bad song. EmmyLou the stand out track.
Meh. For all the similar stuff out there, this really doesn't rise above the muck. Dig deeper. Go get that old Page France album.
Nice album to listen to
This sounds like it might have some staying power. Not a bad track here. Fine lyrics, lots of alt country tinges and a beautiful lead vocal. Early favorites: the title track, Blue, Emmylou.
Oh it was a lovely album! That 'The Lions Roar' had me hooked and wanting more. While it is the best here, this alubm has a nice bubbly persona to it while being a introvert. Has time to give you despite it's onw hunger for answers. 'Blue' and 'This Old Routine' are out in the garden wander in the minds, the guitar plucked like a pelican's heart strings and moods swings but the whole album sits still. Couldn't call it disappointing and it might get even better on morel listens. Very talented group we have here. Are they sisters? Feels like there is a bond between sisters here. Ends on a really happy note with 'King Of The World' and it's beautiful trumpets while 'Emmylou' comes across as a country girl Taylor swift ponder along. The hooks are there and ready to take you in. Lovely little album!
Best Tracks: Emmylou, This old routine.
Meh. I was expecting a bit more than this. I knew the title track, and it was pretty hopeful. Rest of the album sounds badly produced, and really boring. The amount of reverb on the voices on some tracks is annoying. Lyrics didn't mean much either...It's just stuff we've all heard before.
Bit of a disappointment.
A very nice album overall. It reminds me a lot of Bright Eyes' I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, which is natural because he contributed to the album. The lead singer's voice is very soothing and natural but doesn't get boring in the way that a lot of alt-country acts can tend to do. There's a number of big, open tracks like Emmylou which will appeal to fans of bands like Beach House. Good driving music. Very entertaining overall.
