Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 72.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.9.

A good album, the songs are quite diverse in style, but it all fits together nicely and there's no real duds on the album. Bradfield's voice really is great. You Stole The Sun From My Heart is the highlight of the album. I also like Tsunami, Everlasting and If You Tolerate This.

I have commented before but I have since seen this album played out live (just over a year ago as of the date of this comment) and I thought it was necessary to comment about that.

This is defnitiely an introverted album for home listening. It doesn't work at all in a live environment, especially in a field in scorching hot weather.

A deeply sad album, this has some stunning moments but overall this doesn't quite match up to the previous 2 efforts

Most accessible Manics album. Not of the same biting quality of their Richey Edwards era, but the most melodic. They were starting to lose control of their lyrics here, but it doesn't affect the quality.

Another very good album from the Manics, although never really hits the height of Everything Must Go before it. Some excellent tracks and an under appreciated second half. Saying all this SYMM is maybe the worst song the band has made. Best tracks :- Tolerate, You Stole the Sun from my Heart & Ready for Drowning
