Nice diverse mix of funk and rock. Some really good interesting tracks but some filler too. I think it would have been better if a little shorter.

The righteous blend of Funk, Hard-Rock and Rap can only be found in the singular Blood Sugar Sex Magik. It brought up a whole new strain for the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers. The guitar player, John Fruisciante proved once again he could do really, really well, (as this is probably my favorite guitar album ever, real fun to play it's guitars) without disappointing the fans and the other band members, in songs like the beautiful Under The Bridge, witch breaks the genre a bit, and the unforgettable Funk-Punk song Give It Away. Anthony Kiedis Indian influences appear in many songs of the work of art, sometimes even in the titles. Blood Sugar was elected 1991 best Hard-Rock album, beating Nirvana’s Nevermind. The rhythmic part of the band, consisting of Flea and Chad Smith, proves once again what the Red Hot is made of: Some blood, some magic, and a lot of sex.

sexiest album ever with no doubt it deserves a 100/100

Not their best, but it has some really great songs

Power of Equality, Breaking the Girl, the guitar on Funky Monks, Suck My Kiss, I Could Have Lied, Rightous and the Wicked, Give It Away (A Jew harp and backwards guitar solo! [my Jewish friends call it this, so bug off]), Under the Bridge, and Naked in the rain in the words of Kiedis, "fuck me where I lay".

dark. not in a grunge kind of way, but in an Exile on Mainstreet, hedonistic, loving kind of way. some say the length is a detriment but I think this kind of album needs to be drawn out and excessive to really make it's point.
that being said, this sounds very mortal and harmless compared to frusciante's solo work of the time..

The way John plays guitar is wonderful, Flea's bass is like a machine gun in perfect harmony with the battery of Chad, and the rhythmic voice of Anthony

This record obviously put RHCP on the map and so it should have. Some classic tracks like Suck My Kiss, Give It Away, and Under The Bridge along with many other experimental tracks and a cover of a legendary Blue's player to finish it off. RHCP obviously infused many different genres in their music and that is never more evident than this album. The documentary of the making of this album called Funky Monks I can't recommend enough. It will give you more appreciation for the many different sounds on this album.

A few good tracks. Not a funk of the funk side of this band. The slow stuff is better.

This is my all-time favorite album. The bass and guitar intertwine in such a way that makes butter feel out of place on bread. This is funk at its most energetic, ballads at their most beautiful, and a body of music at its sexiest.
