It's a fantastic second to Ten!
swedenmanIt's alright. It's just lacking that extra special something that made Ten so immediate and addictive.
thejoj96Indifference is great. I also like the song about Sorbeez.
junodog4Pearl Jam were on top at this point. This is as good as Ten: not as many standout tracks, but more consistent.
lightmyway 04/26/2012 23:53Just shy of perfect with a couple annoying songs. But the good stuff here is among the best that Pearl Jam would ever do, such as Daughter, Rearviewmirror, and Elderly Woman among many others.
Pearl Jam is appreciated for their aggression and raw power. "Vs." is intense, passionate, edgy and spontaneous. The production is superior to "Ten" and Eddie Vedder's voice is more soulful. The playing and song writing are solid, and an improvement on this sophomore effort. "Vs." stands out as their most cohesive album.This is Pearl Jam at their finest.
Most will have 'Ten' on top, but this album much like 'In Utero' was just a more raw, true sound and reflection of the band.
Fav.Tracks: Animal, Daughter.
gtrodaThis album proved that PJ wasn't just a flash in the pan. Some of the individual strongs are better than those on Ten, but the album as a whole doesn't quite hold up to Ten. It's like debating is DSOTM or WYWH better for the 90s.
paladisiac 01/03/2012 21:15Awesome grunge follow-up to seminal "Ten" bests their debut, IMO, adding ferocity and lyrical complexity to their penchant for brief-but-thought-out song-stories.
