Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. For those who love albums whose lyrical themes are centred on the occult this is a must. It is a very good album with some great tracks that place it in the upper bracket of albums from lesser known underrated bands. However for me the satanic theme is overplayed and hackneyed in places which distracts from the great musicianship displayed by all the band members. Well worth a listen.
I agree, it is brilliant gem I have discovered on BEA. I feel, however, that the second half (especially the last track) is way better than the first.
Brilliant satanic rock/prog/folk masterpiece. Every track is outstanding, and then the final track, "Sacrifice", is one of the best rock tracks of all time. Probably needs several listens to really get into it.
