Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.7/100, a mean average of 73.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

This really is one of the best albums ever made. I know I'm in a very tiny minority with this opinion, but "Quarantine" has grown on me so much. It's like a post-internet sound and so ahead of its time. "Light + Space" is the best song on the album, but only by a little.
While it might sacrifice some beauty in the interests of truth, it reminds us that cold objectivity can free us from today's perception of social disconnection resulting from the cloying swirl of multi-media, reality TV & faux celebrity.
This is wonderful! I'd make a comparison to Bjork, but I like this more than most of Bjork's stuff. I have no idea how this has passed under my radar before now.
Really fascinating, the feel of an ambient album but her soft yet forceful voice cuts through each song like a saw, giving it an ominious feel among all the ethereal beauty. Definitely something to put on repeat
