Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 71.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

1991 will always be her best work, but this is the first full-length effort that introduced us to the rap prodigy that raps over genres like house like it’s nothing.
Sure sometimes she relies a bit too much on the samples, but that’s not the case for most songs, I feel like someone listened the first four tracks and then decided that was enough to write a review. There are still some gems at the end of the album, like “Jumanji”.
This rap/hip-hop/mashy mixtape definitely sounds like a mixtape in that it explores a lot of unpolished ideas, some interesting, some cool. Most of these ideas could've used a little more studio work or fine-tuning for maximized execution. Opener "out of space" (and "fantasea") is a great example -- she deftly raps atop of prodigy's early 90s techno jam, but the song relies too heavily on the underlying sample. Azealia is a good rapper and chooses some interesting samples, part of the new wave of hip-hop that explores indie and IDM for sampled inspiration in sort-of-mashup style, but wasn't able to put enough ideas together cohesively enough to deliver on her potential. It overstays its welcome too, as mixtapes often do.
