Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.8/100, a mean average of 79.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

One of the weirdest cult classics of Brazilian music. For a brief period, soulman Tim Maia became a member of a sect called Cultura Racional and released 2 gospel albums preaching its bible, a book called "Universo em Desencanto". The lyrics are batshit crazy, of course, but the music is sensational, among the best Tim ever released.
Obra-prima do funk/soul!
A lost gem, a must in the 70s samba rock scene. Interesting lyrics, tight songs, great vocals, and great guitar work.
This album is as funky as it can get! Besides the very cool music, the whole concept of the album is pretty interesting. Tim Maia was well known for his many issues with drugs, alcohol and obesity tempered by his light hearted, easygoing and unreliable but likeable personality. After hitting the bottom, he thought that he found salvation in a book called "Universe in Disenchantment", which basically prompted people to join the "Racional" cult sect which offered a happy life just by reading the book and joining the sect. As in every good sect, aliens and UFO´s were involved. The philosophy of the album is totally funny, but of course it was take seriously at that moment by Tim Maia, as the whole album basically promotes "Racional" philosophy. Needles to say, Tim Maia broke up with the sect not too long after and in a couple of years he died of a heart attack provoked by his life of excess. The album though, is very, very good!
