Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.6/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

What it lacks in the sense of discovery and immediacy of the debut it makes up for in tighter production and higher highs.

I really don't get why this is rated so much lower than their debut. Seems like people have been told this is worse, and then rocking with it. i will agree, the first is better, but this deserves a spot in the top 1000.

Best: Safe European Home

Wost: Last gang in tonw

Not as good as their first album and a lot of songs are just too long, but it still has some bangers on it.

Those first true songs are fantastic and easily The Clash classics, but it has nothing on their debut in terms of overall energy and consistency, also has a bland sound.

I'm not a great punk or Clash fan, but this album sounds good, at some places the guitar mix is too stuffed, but it sounds professional.

The lower ratings must be from people who didnt give this album time. I didnt like it as much when I heard it the first couple of times. As I grew up and widened my music taste I came back to it... this record is actually much better than people here give it credit. Clash's 3rd best in my opinion.

Worst of classic Clash but still some great moments. Best if dont listen to it as album and just pick out songs you like. Is there a more Clash song than Tommy Gun? Easily one of my favorite clash tunes. Safe European Home, Last Gang in Town, and Stay Free are other highlights

Lots of people in these comments are saying this album is a disappointment. Completely untrue. Lyrics, musicality and production all much improved from the first album. Sure, it's not as angry or "punk," but at the end of the day, that doesn't matter as much as how enjoyable it is to listen to. And this is definitely enjoyable start to finish. Stay Free, especially, is one of the Clash's very best songs.
