Minimalistic and artistic, this album knew how great of potential it was going to have and knew it was going to have an impact, but this is only a retrospective view, I bet the contemporary one was really harsh. Lou Reed sounds really cool, John Cale has great instrumentation and Nico is decent enough. Andy Warhol knew what he was doing when he was the producer, being an artist himself it's appropriate. My only criticism is that it's a bit too noisy at parts, especially with European Son - which feels like filler. But this is still a great classic acheivement and hugely influential.
Absolute classic... that's all that really needs to be said.
I started out thinking this was sort of an overrated record. It wasn't until my third listen that I realized how... diverse this albums sounded to my ears.
i cannot for life of mine understand how anything by beatles can be considered better than this. it's just so ahead of its time. lyrically and musically.
Cliches aside, this album started several somethings.
Highlights: Heroin, I'm Waiting for the Man, Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale, Venus in Furs
Love this album so much, one of the best ever.
An album that i have tried but struggled to love. It does have some great songs but i don't think i will ever appreciate it in the same way others do.
At first a critical and commercial failure, but now hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time. I call that a fantastic achievement in music.
Outlaw, are you high?
Very pretty album. It's the songwriting which creeps under my skin. I have great enjoyment listening to these pieces of the moon. The moon, very good word to use here. I always like looking at the moon and I feel calm all over when listening to the better songs here. But I wouldn't cut it up. Listen to the whole show, there is a bright joy here.
