Ever since I read about the Manson thing this has been harder for me to enjoy
I don't see all the fillers that everyone else is mentioning. As Paul said, its the Beatles fucking White Album. Every song is unique in its own way. What I love about this album is how, since every member was off doing their own thing, their own styles came out absolutely perfectly. And yet, the greatest band ever came together to nail a killer jammer in a closet in Yer Blues. John was doing his depressing, drug addicted charm with Happiness is a Warm Gun, but still found time to have fun and play around on Bungalow Bill and Glass Onion. Paul was doing his naturally perfect recipe of classics on Blackbird and Back in the U.S.S.R., but still found time to poke fun at John's style on Why Don't We Do It in the Road and knock out Martha My Dear, which is a stunningly perfect tune on the piano to me. George, still trying to perfect the sitar (not an easy task for anyone), couldn't nail the guitar part, but Clapton could, but could still find time to make fun of Clapton on an addictingly catchy song about chocolate and dental work. Ringo quit the band. I love this album.
There is some filler, now and again, but this is a very entertaining and fun album that has stood the test of time.
The Last side to this album consists of the worst material the Beatles have produced the rest aint too bad the only beatles album where you feel the need to skip tracks here and there best tracks my best 5 from 28, Dear Prudence,While My Guitar,Blackbird,Back In The USSR,Mother Nature's Son.
Brilliant double album but a lot of fillers.
Exactly what a double album should be. Brilliant
Hit n miss
Gets points for breaking conventional album rules, diversity, fascinating psychological portrait of band's shattered state (title's ultimate irony).
Not the best, but still dirty
Screw you guys, saying Revolution 9 is a bad song... I love weird stuff like that. Maybe that's why this is quickly becoming my favourite Beatles album.
I know there's filler on this album, but the greats are just too good to ignore. Rocky Racoon, Blackbird, While My Guitar, etc... and Good Night is such a FANTASTIC ending.
This album is seriously special.
