Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.7/100, a mean average of 69.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.9.

This album Kicks our Ass
I was pretty keen as a teen, but rapidly outgrew this bit of hair metal.
The definition of hair metal. A highly uneven affair but with enough big, dumb, good rockin' tracks to warrant a thumbs up.
Standard, slightly above-average hair metal fare for the day, where the best tracks are the radio hits you know, including a pretty good ballad (i esp. like the "love letters in the sand" lyric) as far as the genre goes.
Just what I was looking for in an album! Loud, heavy hitting, unintelligent songs about being loud and heavy hitting... things. Really had my attention all the way through. It is the sort that would fill arena's and turn them around out on their heads. 'Sweet Little Sister' and 'Youth Gone Wild' are two of the best here and have as much revolution in the air than some of Bobby D's gooduns. Smell of petrol too. Is that right? Maybe something is wrong with the disk? I don't know. Band can go into more thoughtful topics. Well... '18 and Life' seemed deep. Might just be a song about a teenager shooting things though. Appealed more than 'Rattlesnake' which isn't bad. More than half of this is what I would call great. Hmm... my thoughts are all over the place right now. I guess the whole thing disorientated me and I need to sit down. Rocks you hard.
