drivebytornado 03/02/2013 04:59Beck followed up Odelay with this one, which didn't sound anything like what he'd released to this point. Very mellow, lots of acoustic guitar, but it sounds great.
"Cold Brains" and "Lazy Flies" are my favorites here.
tbakemanI'm impressed by Beck's songwritting, but for the first time, not the songs.
Probably one of the weakest Beck albums but still had a few solid tracks like Lazy Flies and Tropicalia.
This was supposed to be a B-Sides or EP. The album didn't even want to release it. It is subdued, varied, and less accessible than Odelay. It is a preview of the melancholy of Sea Change, and the funk of Midnight Vultures. An underrated album in a brilliant catelogue.
lightmyway 05/03/2012 00:45A strange follow up to Odelay, but that's exactly what it should be. A great and diverse album encompassing many genres.
My least fav Beck, but still worth a listen. Hidden track is good.
I'm a big fan of this one. I like a lot of Beck songs, but there are inevitably a few tracks on every album that are too out there for my taste. Not the case with Mutations. A very mellow album, but I love every track.
