Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.0/100, a mean average of 69.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

Much love for this band. Prob their best album.
This album takes me back to the 90s when there were a few great female-led grunge bands.
Their live performances are much more energetic. But with this great album they come quite close to that. And they have some brilliant songs on this record.
The Joy Formidable have so much potential, I just hope that one day they are able to realize their full potential, and I think they will. They have a great sound, kind of a Muse mixed with My Bloody Valentine thing, loud, fuzzy guitar riffs and pounding drums with loud, proclaiming songs. This isn’t their best album, though it’s a good album, I have a feeling their best album is on the horizon. I want to believe that some day soon, they will release and album and everyone is going to go “Holy crap, that was one of the best albums of the year." Until then, we have what they’ve released so far, and that’s not to say that I’m disappointed in it, “Wolf’s Law" is a good album and it’s made me excited to see what else The Joy Formidable has in store for us
One of the better releases of the year so far. Sometimes it forces big, arena sized hooks a bit too much, but overall it's a very good album that I can see myself listening to quite a bit.
I love it. First great album of the year. Better than their previous album methinks
