Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 71.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.5.

I love absolutely every song here, save "Dance On" (a bit of an odd number). Even though SOTT was his magnum opus and his best musically, this is probably the best visually/visual era; I loved the colorfulness of the Lovesexy Tour and Nude Tour. The creativity is up there with SOTT, in my opinion, as well. "Alphabet St." is a very merry track, "Glam Slam" is a fun 'slammer' for sure, "Anna Stesia" is an extraordinary mellow tune that, for some odd reason, reminds me of a hip-hop song every time I hear it, and "Positivity" is a very good closer that I might know at least 95% of the lyrics to (something I'm a bit happy about). Nice appearance from the ballad "When 2 R In Love," from the Black Album, which I mentally pair up with "I Wish U Heaven."

Lovesexy is a bit of a disappointing followup to the amazing Sign 'O' the Times, but it's still wildly fun and entertaining. You can really tell he's matured as a songwriter from, say, 1999 or Dirty Mind. The more mature side of Prince is less interesting to me. I still really enjoyed Lovesexy, just less so than his other 80s records.

Prince hits back with a corrective to the abandoned "evil" Black Album with "Lovesexy", where he grasps at heaven. The songwriting is very mature and accomplished, unsurprisingly there are many good tracks on here, my favourites being the minimalistic "Dance On" with its exciting, almost arrhythmic drum patterns and guitar riffs and of course the title track. A splendid success ending on an optimistic high note !

Alphabet Street, Glam Slam, Lovesexy, When 2 R in Love, I Wish U Heaven & Positivity make this a great Prince album and one of his better efforts. It runs smoothly from beginning to end.

This is available in both a one track version and also divided by songs on most later releases. It is meant to be heard as one long song though. as one complete work of art. Excellent and The last of The essential Prince records from this period.

An underrated album this one and also Prince's last release during his imperial phase. Some great pop/funk here especially on, Alphabet St. His last essential LP, in my opinion.
