Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.1/100, a mean average of 77.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.1.

The start of a great run of albums. My favourites are Waiting Phase One, Sever and The Sleep Of No Dreaming.
This album contains what I think is PT's best song, Dark Matter. However I rarely go through listening to the whole thing because there's a lot of waiting (pun intended) through some very weird tracks to get there. I don't think it's a bad album at all, in fact it's pretty good (7/10) and original, but if all tracks had a similar vibe to Dark Matter it would be way better.
An overlooked early classic from the definitive band of the new millennium. Signify, Waiting, Sever, and Dark Matter are all worth checking out.
It's early PT... to me it's too heavily instrumental, still, better than a lot of other stuff out there. Like other prog, though, it is a bit overindulgent. Maybe you disagree.
Pretty alright but gets a bit tedious toward the end. Several tracks have a tendency to open rather slow but gain momentum as they go along. Not sure whether I like that or not.
One of my favourite Porcupine Tree albums. Awesome.
A pretty fantastic Porcupine Tree album. It was the start for the 5 masterpieces to come. Tracks like Waiting - Phase One and Dark Matter are among my favourites by the band.
This albums is significantly underrated, only god knows why.
I agree with Squish when he is saying that this album was meant to be a better OK Computer.
To be played at night time. As the intro says, sit back and relax. Wonderful! Favourites are: Signify, Waiting, Sever, Idiot Prayer and Dark Matter.
This album needs and deserves commenting on! So here's what I've written about it on my chart: In my opinion, this is everything OK Computer is made out to be and more - a reflection on our primal human nature and its dislocation in a modern industrialized world. The album features beautiful soundscapes and a chilly atmosphere as it traverses genres and unravels a brilliant collection of songs from my very favourite band of all time.
...listen to it!
