Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.0/100, a mean average of 75.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.6.

Under-rated Clash record, much more consistent than Sandinista.
In terms of consistency it is similar to their previous one Sandinista! but much shorter which is improvement. There are 4 great songs that stand out Know Your Rights, Should I Stay Or Should I Go, Rock The Casbah and Straight To Hell, the ret is either forgettable or pointless and boring.
Uneven, with 2 hits
I didnt get Straight to Hell but Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay are obviously great, as is Know Your Rights. That being said, unlike most commenters I've seen, I also quite enjoyed songs like Overpowered by Funk and Red Angel Dragnet. As for Atom Tan, Sean Flynn, Ghetto Defendant and Inoculated City, they are not the greatest songs ever written BUT in their own right are enjoyable songs. Sean Flynn might not be for everyone but I've learned to appreciate a track like that. It's not the Clash's best work, BUT I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it.
The hits are just fantastic. Should I Stay or Should I Go, Know Your Rights, Rock the Casbah and especially Straight to Hell are among the Clash's best songs. The rest of the album... not so much.
Disappointing compared to London Calling but a breath of fresh air after Sandinista!.
This was good, but is the weakest proper Clash album.
Their two major hits are on this one, but apart from that the rest of the songs (exluding Know Your Rights) are quite dull, and just blatantly poor-writed. Such a shame, they could have done this so much better.
Combat rock, is really the 'last' proper Clash album, and looking at the contents of the box set a few years ago, it seems the band agrees with this. If you take out, should i stay or should i go, and, rock the casbah, it would be an incredibly frustrating album. The rest is fine, but it's clear by now that the Clash were slipping. Not as bad as, cut the crap, but still disappointing.
