A little ecstatic...her brilliance needed to be reeled in just slightly. But it sure works on "Eli's Coming"

One of the most powerful voices I've ever heard. Absolutely fantastic record.

Criminally unsung songstress who sold her talents out to get by. Three tracks off this album became hits - when they were sold to other artists to perform.

Predating Joni Mitchell's "Blue" by four years, and deserving of much of its praise.

I discovered Laura Nyro 30 years later than I should have done and resent the time that her music was not part of my life - she's that good. This album contained Sweet Blindness and Stoned Soul Picnic which were to be big hits for the 5th Dimension and are truly wonderful pop songs. But the album is more notable for the introspective ballads and sublime vocals which give the album a warmth and freshness that is very rare. Many of the songs contain clever changes of tempo and Laura vocal gymnastics stay just the right side of self indulgence

If you have not heard her music then you have not heard the voice of GOD. Her talent is beyond comprehension. I only wish I had heard this album earlier than I did so I could have enjoyed that much more.
