Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Stetson continues to prove his incredible talent. The album is otherworldly and majestic. Unfortunately some moments begin to feel similar and while I am a fan of Justin Vernon I'm not always into how his performance fits with Stetson's, although Brute is fantastic and I never would have guessed it was his vocals. Overall there are enough brilliant standouts that make it more than worthwhile.

Being a huge fan of Stetson's previous release, my expectations were high for Vol. 3. And I must admit I was kind of disappointed on first listen by the fact he hasn't expanded much on his sound. But with repeated listens, I feel a strong contrast between both album.
His 2013 release is more "manly", aggressive and tense. It's not supposed to be a pretty listen and draws the listener into the dirt.
All in all, another brave piece from Stetson.
