Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.8/100, a mean average of 79.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

Acerta demais nas distorções!
A very psychedelic and trippy experience with some top quality songs mixed in as well. The atmosphere on this album is simply brilliant. This is due to the experimental and psychedelic nature of the album which is created perfectly by the combination of instruments. All of them are used to such great effect as well and they all play their part in making the album feel very cohesive. The highlights, in regards to songs, for me are Agoraphobia, Never Stops and Nothing Ever Happened the latter being my personal favourite. However, there is quite a significant and noticeable dip in quality around the middle of the album. While it is only 3 or 4 songs where it is pretty average it still drags the whole record down in my opinion. Overall, a record with a lot to love and it has some of my favourite ever Deerhunter songs on here.
It has its moments I guess, but it didn't really push the genre forward. Rather, it sounds like a myriad of '80s and '90s alt rock bands (like all indie rock after the turn of the millennium).
I love the cover art.
Tremendous record for a band who was really finding their sound at this time. Stunning Indie work....
Very consistent. Love this album!

A
Awesome record. I love how those three filler-type tracks in the middle (Cavalry Scars, Green Jacket, Activa) actually act as a filter to anybody who is not interested enough in the album to give a complete listen (I believe that's the band's actual purpose for those tracks, according to a short documentary I watched on YouTube).
Go ahead, sit through those few minutes of weird trippiness, because it will be rewarded with possibly the best or at least one of the top three Deerhunter tracks right afterwards, along with an equally awesome second half of the album compared to the first.
Fantastic album that really rewards repeated listening.
I want to love this album unconditionally...it's so fantastic in so many ways, it reaches probably farther than the band ever reached. Unfortunately, it sometimes languishes in the noisy abyss found by many shoegaze-alt bands of this sort. Amply corrected on the follow-up "Halcyon Digest", yet this is still a fantastic album, should be much more highly considered.
I did not expect to like this as much as I did. This is probably my favorite Deerhunter album.
Organic as hell!
