Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.5/100, a mean average of 72.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.5.

The second LP from visionary filmmaker David Lynch is a step down from the bonkers "Crazy Clown Time" but is still a good ride for building atmosphere. As long as you don't have high expectations, you'll be fine.
Strangely enough, "The Big Dream" is essentially David Lynch's pop album. That shouldn't be taken as an insult however, in fact it feels like a more refined album compared to his haphazard experimental debut "Crazy Clown Time" and solidifies Lynch as a serious musician. Of course, this is no ordinary "pop" record because it's a Lynch project, so expect a more warped take on classic songs about romantic longing, but overall it's a very good record that just falls short of his unearthly debut.
Certainly an interesting album, however it can be a bit hit and miss. Although it is only an hour long, it can be a bit of struggle to get through, enjoyable for the first few songs, but other songs like 'Sun Can't Be Seen No More' are just irritating.
