The opening track, the middle track and the closing track are some of the best songs ever written IMO
Very folky and country-influenced songs. Beautiful ballads. Classic Dylan.
Pretty much what I expected.
I dont get why this is considered such a good album. I think its down to my personal taste, i like melodic stuff and this is devoid of that unlike blood on the tracks
Big fan of this album, but definitely not my favorite. I think it's overrated bc "Like a Rolling Stone".
People underestimate the musical quality of Dylan's albums because of how great he is lyrically. There is nothing further I can add on the subject of lyrics, but for such a big artist to release a record that was this raw and urgent without sacrificing any of its immediate accessibility is stunning. This record is a speeding train, each song chugging along at an alarming rate, with so much going lyrically that it's easy to miss some of the musical nuances. I honestly don't think keyboards have ever been put to better use in pop music, and some of the melodies are astonishingly complex for somebody who is supposedly lacking musically. But yeah, whatever. His voice is shit or something.
I've only listened to this about twice ever. Heard 'Like A Rolling Stone' many more times and I like the songwriting there. Lyric writing is good unlike the last track I had to turn off one of the times as it is sooooooooo loooooong. That song was a musical ordeal!
I either don't get this album or it is rated so high because of "Like A Rolling Stone". From a Buick 6 and Queen Jane Approximately are also pretty good, but the rest are just ruined for me at Bob's attempt to be a musician :). Don't get me wrong, I like Bob, I just think his earlier stuff with him just on acoustic guitar is better, because he isn't a musician, but a poet. I think I will just stick to his "best of" material after The Times Are A Changin'.
Huge Influential, but also Greatly good album without Like a Rolling Stone, this album contains many good songs
Like A Rolling Stone is great. The rest, well I like his earlier stuff better. Bob is a better poet than musician, so I can't rate this as good other than Like A Rolling Stone...
