Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.1/100, a mean average of 74.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

Not bad, actually worth a many revisits.
Good heavy metal album, some bangers and some boring stuff, there are some great riffs. For me it's quite similar to Heaven&Hell but slightly less consistent.
Not up to the caliber of 'Heaven and Hell' but Dio's second effort still produces a solid bit of work. Goes up and down in the pace and tempo of the songs making it a bit of a mish mash as far as flow goes. But still a great album. I rate this above any of Dio's solo albums except for 'Holy Diver'
This probably would not have been any better with Ozzy on board. Rating (73.89)
This comment will now outdate my comments about Heaven and Hell and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath whereby I stated that they were my top Sabbath albums. Without a doubt, this for me is top of the tree. The vocal delivery by RJD coupled with the overall musicianship which includes the best guitar work and drumming I have heard on any of the other Black Sabbath albums seals my decision. Every track is class, some with a real sinister atmosphere like 'Sign of the Southern Cross' and 'Falling off the Edge of the World'. There are equally, the really heavy workouts like the title track and 'Voodoo'. The sleeve art lets the album down a bit, had that been more scarey it may have encouraged more people to buy it when it was first released. It has taken me ages to track down a decent copy on vinyl but was most definitely well worth the wait!
The last decent Sabbath album. Dio would move on the bigger and better things after this one. "Sign of the Southern Cross" "Mob Rules" and "Over and Over" are the standouts for me.
Better than Heaven and Hell, a classic album, no filler.
It was flat out impossible for the Sabs to duplicate the heights achieved on Heaven and Hell, but Mob Rules is still a most worthy successor. In one way, it actually outpaces its predecessor inasmuch as it has more variety of sound and presentation. Almost every cut is a winner and two of the very best in the entire Sabbath catalog are oft overlooked deep cuts; the hard hitting 'Slipping Away,' and the positively epic and wicked 'Falling of the Edge of the World.'
not a bad follow up to 'Heaven & Hell' some equally good tracks here 'Sign of the Southern Cross' being the clear favourite along with 'Mob Rules' & 'Voodoo'.
A more consistent album than Heaven & Hell despite what everyone says.
