I'm genuinely puzzled as to why this is considered such a classic Springsteen album. To me this is that point in a legendary artist's career where he starts to put out mediocre material and should really just call it quits (a la "Presence", "Let's Dance", "The Final Cut", etc.). I don't know. It's not for me, I guess.
This is up there as my favourite 80's album didn't realise until I done a chart its like a greatest hits album really Bobby Jean, Glory Days,Dancing in the Dark,My Hometown to name a few Great album
SeanGreat album 7 out of 12 were top 10 hits and i think all 7 are key tracks along with No surrender. The other tracks are very good and hold their ground even though i would also include Bobby Jean in that top tier. Amazing
Born in the USA, Dancing in the Dark, and Glory Days are immortal.
Great album. I actually like most of these album versions better than the live versions of the songs.
Dated? Nah. Rearrange the lyrics in "Born" just a bit and you're talking about Iraqi war vets instead of Vietnam vets. My Hometown - written 30 years ago and the desperation found there describes what's going on now. And btw, Dancing in the Dark still grooves.

Mr. Shankly 01/29/2012 11:18The songs on this album are great. There's no denying them, but I don't care for the slick 80's production of Born in the USA. It sounds a bit dated to me.
gtrodaOne of my all time favorites. Very close to a perfect album. Great mix of music and messages. Consistent songwriting throughout. It amazes me that as many times as I've listened to this album, I always enjoy listening to it and continue to find new things to like about it. Many of the songs have taken on different meanings as I've grown older. It's also amazing to think about all the wonderful outtakes from this album as over 100 songs were recorded and some great songs were cut from the album.
