Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.2/100, a mean average of 75.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.6.

‘Miami’ (1982) and ‘Fire of Love’ (1981) are two companion piece albums which capture most of J.L.P’s early material encapsulating the early Gun Club “Classic Sound” 1.0 characterised by their unique melding of blues / roots with college / indie rock
Note 1: the track “The Fire of Love” doesn’t appear on the album ‘Fire of Love’ and can be found on ‘Miami’
Note 2: the track “John Hardy” is a tradition folk song most famously recorded by Leadbelly and The Carter Family
"The Dark Side or FoL." Both albums remind me of the wild west, if FoL was the obscene song of the cowboys, Miami is the gloomy ritual of the Indians.
Probably contains some of the best songs Gun Club ever produced- Carry Home, Bad Indian, Sleeping in Blood City and Mother of Earth. A must have for every Gun Club fan.
My vinyl copy has a stained cover and the vinyl crackles, but I still prefer it to the CD version I bought. I once travelled down to London to see Nick Cave. My abiding memory of that night was seeing Jeffrey Lee Pierce heading away from the bar. I was such a small town boy amazed that someone I liked so much was at the same concert as me.
