Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

This album should at least be in the top 10. David Byrne vocals meets Sonic Youth clangyness. Excellent listen.

A swell mix of prog and punk, with all the best Canadian/Quebecois affect applied perfectly. Not to call them affected: these guys are as sincere as labradors.

"Today more than any other day I am prepared to make the decision between 2 percent and whole milk" This may be the best lyric I've ever heard.

Has that classic postpunk sound along with the late 80s noice rock sound in particular songs. Its a great punk relese one of the best in this years releases.

I get the David Byrne and Sonic Youth comparisons, but to me this sounds like a local indie band from the late 90s Calgary scene - Earthquake Pills.

One of the most emotionally sincere albums I've heard. Each song is precisely constructed, but coarse, rugged, and surprisingly complex. Each listen is a new experience. One of 2014's best.

Though it carries a distinct late-'70s feel, I hear more Clap Your Hands Say Yeah on this record than any other influence. The best album of 2014.

A great little energetic gem of an album. Reminiscent of so many different post-punk and new wave bands but with a charm all it's own.

Has an 84 on Metacritic brought down by Rolling Stone's review. Do you think it might be good?
