Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.1/100, a mean average of 76.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

This is a really excellent and somewhat underrated album and I agree with a previous comment, the album is so much more than Don't Fear the Reaper. There is something rather intriguing and dark about the manikinesque looking character holding the cards on the front cover sleeve.

The first side of this LP elevates the record to a 90 for me. Side two is much weaker and I rate an 80. I love the weirdness of side two though. The first BOC album I ever owned. 90

Good album. Mixed bag with some of the rockier numbers being outstanding. Some of the slower ones (not all).....not so much. Overall a decent listen though.

Finally BOC gets a recording that is worthy of their outstanding compositions. The production job on this is outstanding. A damn near perfect release that includes "The Revenge Of Vera Gemini." A true work of art.

This album is so much more than just the Reaper. Yes, it's slicker in production than the three which preceded it, which turns off some hardcore early fans, but it still has plenty of great riffs and outright darkness. A classic through and through.

Reaper is the big hit, and I have always liked it, but my personal favorite is ETI. I think this is a good record, but I also think that BOC isn't for everyone. They have a unique sound that doesn't appeal to everyone. Saw them on the Black & Blue Tour in 1980 in Rockford, IL. Great show.

Yeah, it has BOC's classic, "Reaper," and a couple of other reasonably crunchy rockers. But with these guys, unless you really want a period document, you're better off with a good compilation.
