Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.5/100, a mean average of 70.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

Good collaboration. Apart from a few songs Coverdale did with Deep Purple, this is his best work. I like it better than his Whitesnake stuff. Jimmy Page not so much as how can you top Zeppelin. But his influence still shines through. Together though this is a good album combing blues, rock and a bit of soul.
My boyfriend suggested that I download this, after he got me into bands like Led Zeppelin, The Stones, and Van Halen this year.
The songs themselves are mostly good -- "Pride and Joy;" "Shake My Tree;" and "Absolution Blues" in particular. None of these songs are total stinkers, per se.
The problem is that Coverdale's voice lacks authenticity, (although in terms of technique, it's pretty "dudical" in an '80s way.) That, combined with some lyrics that - by comparison - make Sammy Hagar seem like Shakespeare, makes "Coverdale Page" less than it could be.
It's Page's best work since "Presence."
Wow I forgot all about this album. Has a few absolutely amazing tracks, but quite a bit of filler too.
