Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.3/100, a mean average of 68.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

This is a harder DM album, one of my favorite. I like it, because it has a mood and contains only songs which belongs there.
There’s not much I like here. This is an album with very few risks. Unfortunately, they only get songs here that are probably the result of routine songwriting ("Wrong" makes a little impression), but I don't recognize the group anymore. In general, the sharp edge and the penetrating melodies are absent. While Jezebel is saved by the beautiful story told by the lyrics, the absolute highlight of this album is "The Truth is ..." that swings as usual and uses enthusiastic vocals.
Sounds of the universe suffers from melodramatic writing but does have fairly interesting instrumentals to hold it up.
Typical latter day Depeche Mode album, full of competent synth rock/pop, but with nothing spectacular on it. Up until, songs of faith, they always had three or four great tracks, usually the singles taken from the album, but they just don't seem to able to write those kind of songs anymore. Still, there's nothing wrong with this album, it just that it feels a bit ordinary.
Good synthpop album. Best 10 songs average is 82,5/100 and the album can get good 85/100. Previous comment is correct: nothing great, nothing bad. Best songs are "In Chains", "Wrong" and "Perfect" all 85/100. All other songs only just good 80/100, except "Spacewalker" is a poor filler instrumental.
Nothing great, nothing bad.
Best tracks: Wrong, Peace, Fragile Tension, Miles Away.
Takes a couple of listens to sink in.
A nice wacky modern album.
Depeche Mode does as Depeche Mode does. One for the fans of earlier work.
