Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.2/100, a mean average of 70.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.3.

It is a good solid album, possible my favourite album along with Mighty Rearrange . Lyrically it a stronger album. My favourites songs are 29 Plams,Great Spirit and Network News.
An excellent Robert Plant album this came out at the height of alternative and grunge music and showed who was the o.g. This is very deep mature and spiritual music and vastly underrated.
"29 Palms" and " I believe" are among Robert Plant's best songs ever, unfortunately the rest of the album falls a bit flat with too long and uninspired tracks.
A turning point for RP - gone are the slightly suspect 80s sounds, while the hints of Eastern spook and Celtic mysticism come to the fore. He also remembers how to roar like he used to in the Led Zep days, which came in handy when he teamed up with Jimmy Page again shortly after
Nice album :)
