Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.3/100, a mean average of 67.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.4.

A lot of the most written-about new artists are praised for the ways in which they reminisce over and reinterpret the hallmarks of 1990s culture. There’s infinity new things to say about it, and also none. While the album does venture into this ground, particularly the Dot Net video, Battles escapes falling into that trench and is very much a Battles project.
Best track: Dot Net. It makes me want to buy an educational CD-ROM of some sort.
I preferred Gloss Drop to Mirrored, so this is a welcome direction. That said, it just doesn't hang together as well as I would like outside the more obvious highlights.
Stronger than Gloss Drop, but still utterly weak and uninspired.
This album is a step forward for Battles, as they leave vocalists behind and record a fully instrumental album. I believe it's the right direction, but this record has some growing pains. Some tracks are half-done, and a couple with good potential are abruptly cut short, however, the best songs on here show that Battles can make great music without the help of vocalists
To my knowledge, the first completely instrumental album from Battles, and for what we got, it was pretty good. We have a few bangerz including "FF Bada", and we have a portion where it drags in the middle, but it kind of steps out of the comfort zone near the end and saves itself.
